Bears are starting to wake up.  This past weekend (March 15-16, 2025) there was a bear sighting in the Panorama area and other places in the area have seen bear tracks. The big grizzlies are usually the first to emerge and you'll see increased bear activity now and going forward as the warmer weather rolls in.  Last year, the first big Grizzlies were spotted March 18 in the Canmore/Banff area. The hot weather these days means everyone is heading outdoors to enjoy everything the great outdoors has to offer.   Just a reminder to NOT leave your bear spray in a hot vehicle.  Vehicles trap heat which means on a hot day, the inside of your vehicle can reach temperatures over 55°C or 131°F.  Bear spray canisters can explode if they reach temperatures over 50°C.  Know what the temperature limits are on your bear spray.
