Caution during Elk Calving Season
Take caution during Elk Calving season from mid-May to early July. Elk females are very protective of their young and they will strike if they feel threatened. If you see a newborn Elk, the mother is likely nearby. Elk will often be seen around Canmore, Banff and Jasper. If you see an Elk, never approach it for any reason. Elk have been known to aggressively kick or charge if they feel threatened. Stay at least 30m away and never try to sneak around them. Here's some more tips from the town of Banff Be Safe.
